You can also hop onto your bike with your riding partner and grab some lunch while you enjoy the day on the road. Here are three scenic drives near Renton, Washington, that you can go on to spend a beautiful afternoon.

  1. Check Out the Sunset at Hamilton Viewpoint Park

First up is the beautiful Hamilton Viewpoint Park. This destination offers views of Elliot Harbor, the Cascade Mountains, and the Seattle skyline. If you get a chance to go at sunset or sunrise, the skies are even more breathtaking. They have benches where you can sit and enjoy the view, or you’re always welcome to enjoy it from your car or your Harley. Find the Hamilton Viewpoint Park at 1120 California Ave. SW. This drive will take you about 40 minutes round trip and is great for a day when you have other plans.

  1. Spend the Day Traveling to Redondo Beach

This is a hidden gem located at the Redondo Beach Pier in Des Moines, Washington. This drive will take you about 20 minutes one way and is worth every single minute. There are plenty of places to stop to enjoy some delicious food along the way. A favorite is the Des Moines Dog House where you can get mango habanero chicken sausage or a Colombian chorizo dog. Another option is Wally’s Chowder House where you can grab some mouth-watering seafood.

Another stop along the way is the Puget Sound or the Saltwater State Park. These spots are great if you bring along the kids. They can get out to play at one of the playgrounds or take a hike on one of the trails. At the state park, there’s even the option to go diving at their artificial reef. At Redondo Beach, you can explore the boardwalk and maybe even see the sunset over the tops of the Olympic Mountains.

  1. Head to Mount Rainier

This is a longer drive, between an hour and a half to two hours each way, but the result is worth it. Taking the drive from Renton to Mount Rainier is a perfect way to spend a day. Stop at the Black Diamond Bakery for breakfast and a coffee to catch your first glimpse of the mountain. Make sure and eat enough because from here it’s a straight shot to Rainier.

Once you arrive, there’s a $25 entry fee and another short drive to your final destination. Weekends are usually busy, but you won’t regret it and will probably find yourself traveling back and forth to Mount Rainier in the future. Enjoy the snow-capped mountains, beautiful skies, and blooming flowers in the warmer months. Don’t forget to pack drinks, snacks, and sunscreen.
